On this day I would usually wish you Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus or Happy Saint David’s Day; but spare a prayer for St Olga of Kiev. (Kyiv) She is the patron saint of widows and converts, sadly there will be many of the former in her land. Like everyone I am watching with horror the events unfolding in Ukraine, I have been thinking of one of my student contemporaries whose family moved and settled in Ashton-under-Lyne, no doubt he will have relatives enduring the incursion into their country.
