The stories of (false) teeth

Ask any dentist and they will tell you stories of how patients have lost or mislaid their dentures. From the, possibly apocryphal, tale of the junior nurse taking the dentures from all the patients on the ward to clean them and not being able to tell one from the other to the gentleman who “lost” them in the bed of a lady who was not his wife.

One of my most memorable was the individual who had lost his false teeth and could not face any social event without them, he went through the stages to have me replace them, which I did with the final fitting on a Friday. When I saw his name added to my day list as an emergency on the following Monday I presumed that he needed an “ease”. He arrived minus the teeth looking very shamefaced and told me that he had rather “tied one on” during Saturday, “making up for lost time with my mates” he explained. Unfortunately the teeth did not survive his excess and were now somewhere in the sewers via his toilet bowl on Sunday morning. Back to the drawing board.

This two minute film amused me and brought back memories of some of the tales from my clinical years, I hope you enjoy it.
